ABOUT
After completing his Bachelor of Communications (with distinction) from RMIT in 2011, Daniel launched the multi-award-winning video production agency Kintaro Studios. From 2011 to 2022, this bespoke studio facilitated work at every level of the production process, working with a diverse portfolio of global brands such as: 2XU, Rapha, Dulux, Ogilvy, World Vision, Thankyou, Ford, and IBM (to name a few).
Moving to freelance in 2022, Daniel’s unique ability to work across various filmmaking disciplines has enabled him to bring exceptional levels of collaboration throughout the production process to multiple production studios.
As an active member of the Australian Cinematography Society, Daniel has won multiple awards for his commercial cinematography, including a Silver Award for his work on PERSPECTIVES (2018) and a Gold Award for CHANGE MAKERS (2021).
In 2020, his work as Editor for the documentary television special FREEMAN (Directed by Laurence Billiet) was nominated for an ACTAA for BEST EDITING in a television documentary and recognised as the most-watched documentary on Australian television that year.
In 2022, as an Editor, Assistant Director, Animator, and Second-Unit Cinematographer for THE GIANTS, Daniel worked closely with Directors Laurence Billiet and Rachel Antony to help bring their vision to life. This culminated with the film premiering at the Adelaide Film Festival alongside a national cinema release across 21 screens, spanning an incredible 14-week consecutive run. This film has since gone on to win multiple industry awards (most notably, an AACTA for Best Cinematography, AIDC Best Feature Documentary, BANFF Best Film, The Australian Film Critics Association Best Australian Documentary and the SWIFF Audience Award) while putting the preservation of Australian’s ancient forest back on the National agenda.
In 2023, Daniel was Unit Conveyor at the Swinburne University School of Communications, teaching ‘Video Project’. Assisting 60+ students in delivering a 6-minute documentary (alongside a theoretical understanding of the medium) as part of their final semester Bachelor program.
Presently, Daniel is completing Post-Production on the feature Documentary FLOODLAND (Sweetshop & Green Productions, Screen Australia & Film Victoria), which is scheduled for completion in January 2025.
